...a special thanx to the corin&dave band (please help them come up with a name) who were added last minute when mike viola (candy butchers) tragically had to cancel...i saw these guys play (at a viola show ironically) a couple weeks ago and it was frikin' fantastic..aaand yes! the sexadelic Matt B. is their drummer..aaaand they have a pedal steel player....you can't lose..

..a noooOw few jApAn highlights:
- okonomiyaki (a kind of japanese pizza-ish) in Osaka (it's famous there) with friends from Boston!...we didn't have long here, but, i can't wait to go back...osaka seems much more laid-back..and fun..or..wiLd or something...
- Nagoya Castle...one of the oldest in japan...beautiful old art and architecture..including these huge golden "dolphin" fishes that perch on the roof..
- kishime (flat) noodles in Nagoya (this is a rEal regional speciality)...i had it about 4 different ways
- shoping at the 100 yen (dollar) store...almost everything iS aCtually 100 yen, and the shit is way better than the junk at the u.s. stores...
- visiting Kiddie Land..the famous four story toy store (or is it 5?)...they had a whole Nightmare Before Christmas section, and a Gremlins section (!), and, a just about everything else section too (anyone know Olivia?)...and i got some aMaZing christmas cards that light up and sing 'n shit....aaAaa..
- Fugu (potentially poisonus blowfish) dinner in Tokyo (i'd been waiting for this since last time)...each course contained fugu (just like Iron Chef)..i even had fugu fin sake!...everything was frickin' deee-lish...and..i'm still alive (control your disapointment)
- praying at the Meji shrine...this is the biggest shrine in japan and probably one of the most serene public places i've ever been too...the architecture blends right in with the suroundings (which are rediculously goregeous)..they don't even know how some of it was built!...you can write a wish down on a wooden board and at the end of the month they burn them all in a ritual ceremony...there were messages of peace and contentment in all languages...very moving...
- gawking at the japanese goths....they really go all out with the lace and canes and hats and make-up and...eeeee...
- hangin' with my good friend Ant who now plays in The Libertines after their Tokyo show (yeah, us in tokyo at the same time is an unbelievably rediculous coincidence right?)...actually, i don't remember what the end of the evening was like, exactly..but..i'm pretty sure i had butt-loads of fun (no..not like that)...
- yeah, yeah..food food food...Natto (fermented soybeans) everyday (can't get enough)...hearty traditional soba (on a couple of occasions)...i went to this out-of-the-way place on my last night on a reccomendation from a friend (and with a wonderful new aqcuaintance)..all organic vegetables prepared in exotic ways and whole roasted fish (un-be-liev-ably fresh)..a famous restauranteur came in with her husband while we were there, thus confirming this place's pedigree.....agh..i wanted to take it all back with me...
- all the great people i met from the promoter, and various labels and publishers, my friend kiku (who runs the japanese website)..she was suCh a huGe heLp the whole tour...my friend Mika (who sang in the Austin choir) who took me around shopping, and all the amazing fans...ghaa..the people are just soOo insanely nice over there.....thank yOu everyone!
- and oh yeah...the shows were pretty dern cool too...the eBand stuff really came together...'n the Hanson fellers were mighty swell to me...it was just super....
- lots of other stuff too, but....enough already...

1) yes...we are officially STARTING A NEW RECORD WITH AWARE IN JANUARY ...as you may know, i've been demoing a buncha songs over the past few months, and i really feel like the sound of the new record is coming together...lots of moody guitars, a little choir, and strings, and as always, an emphasis on songs....crAppy songs...hA...just kiddin' (or am i?)...i'll be doing some (if not all) of the recording here in Boston with my longtime pal Ducky Carlisle back on the knob twidling...dylan's back on the big drums and ol' johnny cutler's gonna do a little stuff..so..with maclaine, chris, and our new sonic spinner alex jorge on guitar it should be, well: ssssuper...eeeee..i can't wait....no release date yet, but, i'm hoping to barel through it...i'll keep you posted as things progress...

w/ The Scheme (David T.'s new band..i produced one track on his record)...and yes we will be doing some new material WiTH the Get Up Choir ..if you're interested in shouting in the show (and doing some recording for the next record..yes) contact Maclaine at
maclaine_diemer@yahoo.com ...
..i couldn't be more excited about playing in boston again...as some of you already know..we've introduced our long time national choir-director maclaine into the fold as a keyboard and guitar player (his rock moves are even better than his directing moves..hA)..and due to adam's relocation to the wes'coas' i'm happy to introduce his good friend and colaborator tom deis as our ax-slinger (love that term)...much luck to adam in his LA adventures..we'll really miss the tapping...but the newly solidified line-up is sounding abfab...we've been working on lots of new material (some of which we'll introduce at the show)...and now that we've got three strummers the guitarmony is running rampant (think brian may)...i've also been experimenting heavily with the eBand stuff i've been wanting to put together for some time..so it looks like me matt will be introducing some of that at the next show...wheeee...and of course i'm giddy about getting together with -The Get Up Choir- again...we're gonna work up some of the new material and record some of it for my next record at the rehearsals...as always..if you're interested in participating contact
maclaine_diemer@hotmail.com ...since maclaine's playing in the band now we'll be looking for a national choir-director replacement in the fall (this is essentially a volunteer position)..email him if you're interested in finding out more...the ever-suave Yamil will of course be taking the reigns for this coming (and all future?) boston shows...man does he rule....and..i guess that's all the news for now...the last fe shows were pretty cool...especially nyc and the boston pop underground thing with the invincible mike violla (candy butchers) and paula kelley...check out their records (dO iT!)......okeydokeysmokey....lata...

petegalli@cybercom.net ....there should be some more pictures on the site now (finally)...thanx to everyone who sent stuff in....and yah..see you goons soon....

bleu: new year, new shows, new music (February 12th)
..well...i'm not sure anyone really wanted to Win A Date With Tad Hamilton...but maybe they like Mean Girls better?..well, maybe if they're Against The Ropes?..haha.. ..grOan...

...SCROLL DOWN FOR SHOW INFO...
..well, we've been working on some new material and really wanted to try it out in a low-key setting, so we booked a little warm-up show right in my boston neighborhood at the dive-tastic MiDWAY CAFE in Jamaica Plain, MA...and i would like to point out that two of the acts i'm producing will be opening up...this will be John's (my keyboard player for those in the know) first show as a "front-man"..he calls his thing -THE GREEK EMBASSY- and we just finished mixing his EP a couple days ago...it's very compelling, original stuff...i just started choir member -AARON SHADWELL'S- record recently, so, we've got a long way to go on that, but it's coming along quite nicely..he'll be opening up as well..max and i will be playing with him, and dylan and i will be playing with john (incest iS best after all)...i think it's gonna be a pretty freegin' fun night... ..we've got another local-ish show with -PHANTOM PLANET- at CLARK UNIVERSITY and then we're off to do a couple -CALi TOUR DATES- involving -THE GET UP CHOIRS-
..... i will definitely be recording the choir singing the new material at these shows...so, i cordially invite you to come and be a part of it...
http://www.bleutopia.com/choir.html ..i'm unbelievably happy to be able to work on this new stuff with all of you...
...i'll do some writing and recording out there until -SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST- (in Austin, TX) which i'm psyched to be playing again...i had a really good time last year...that'll probably be my first eBAND SHOW WITH THE CHOIR ..i'm excited to delve deeper into that this year...and there are a lot more tour dates in the works...we'll let ya know as soon as we do...
..oh yeah..did anyone hear "snow day" on the today show?...yer probably not up that early..but my parents sure are...they were so proud (aaaw)..and i got a lot of emails about Regis and Kelly playing "..hollywood"...it seems they've used it as intro music several times actually..anything having to do with "hollywood" (how creative)...i'm not sure how i feel about being on daytime tv that much..i'm not realy a morning person...but, i suppose it's better than being in an infomercial (unless it's ron popiel in which case i'd be honored)....thanx for the pictures you've been sending...there'll be lots more on the site soon...
