the SnowLeopards record (which i co-produced with the band) is nearing completion and will be out soon...it's turning out completely kickass...can't wait for you to all hear it...also, they won the frigggin' BMA for best song "stuck in the middle" (which i mixed)..yAy for them...make sure to come early and check 'em out at the boston show... ..weLp...here i am safe-and-sound(ish)....an official LA resident i guess?..
...it's weird...but good weird...like mork from ork....yeah..i def'nly like it so far...
..the tour was soOo fun...

1) ah yeS...i can't believe this record is fiiinally coming out...L.E.O. drops
OCTOBER 17TH!!..on the brilliant Cheap Lullaby Records who we're very psyched to be involved with...
..for those of you who're wondering: yes, "A Watched Pot" is moving forward..very slowly....but in the meantime, you've got L.E.O. to ogle....we're attempting to put together some CD release shows...nothing is finalized yet, but, if all works out, we'll do LA on sat. oct. 21st, boston on fri. oct. 27th, nyc sat. oct. 28th, and philly sometime the week after that...if the LA show comes together, we'll be getting together lots of the L.E.O. participants to all play together (at the same time even)..which is gonna be super silly..it's still wAy up in the air, but, keep yer fingaz crossed...the other shows will be more-or-less bleu shows, with some L.E.O. thrown in for good measure....and yeah..we're working on a japanese release as well..possibly with bonus tracks, including some long lost gems (germs) that i'm psyched to get out there...more info as i get it..

1st off: i am in NYC thiS sAturdAy w/ the new "big"band (see below for vEry imPorTanT deets)...
..i am going in the studio tOday (yAy!) to finish up my two side-projects...i hope to be done with --The Blizzard of '05-- and --L.E.O.-- (formerly called elope) by the end of next month... in the meantime: i have created myspace profiles for each of those projects so that you can enjoy them as separate entities (and their corresponding recordings of course)...and, accordingly, i changed the name of my original profile (/bleuelope) to --/bleutopia-- like the website (yah, bleu was already taken..bOo..they don't even uSe it!)...the bleutopia profile now features rough-mixes from my forthcoming record "a watched pot" (as opposed to the dEMos from various projects that you've been listening too)...that means there will be mAny -brand-new-songs- and brand new productions of old songs up there (two new ones rotated in every week)...i'm not sure when this project will be finished (s00n), but, i'm pretty determined to get it out thiS frEEgin' yeAr...come hell or high-and-mighty!...

...ok...the other big news: i'm movin' to LA...don't get me wrong..i LUH-huVE boston..a LOt! (the mossst)..i been here 13 yeARs!..and i'm gonna miss it tuNs, but, it's time to smell the smog for a while..see how the other 1/2 lives, etc...now, of course, this is gOod news for the lef' coas' folks (who don't get to see my mug much)..but..it does indeed mean that these next couple nyc and boston shows, are, in a sense, farewell shows...i will uNdoubTedly be playing boston and nyc a couple times a year..and with tours and what not, possibly a bit more, so, no biggie right?..basicallllly i'm just looking for an excuse to party (do i really need an exCuse?)...but yeah..i'm reaLLy excited about this "big" band i've got goin' now..new and old members (maclaine returns!), and sAx (think e-street band, nOt dave mathews band)...plus!!!!!!

..wOwzAh...yeah..it has been tOo long since i've written....i've been a busy little bee tho'...after several weeks of recording here in boston and then in LA my new Aware release "a watched pot" is indeed almost done..eeee...not mixed yet, and, perhaps slightly stalled (more details below if you're interested)...i've set aside some time in feb and march to finish up my other two projects..so my moody li'l "the blizzards of 05" and of course "elope" should be finished by april!!..fo'rea'...so..keep yer fingers crossed for some freegin' reckids this yeAr!..(really)..

.....so, as promised, the full scoop on the new record (officially titled "a watched pot" by the by):
...the recording went pretty swell overall...we did most of the basics right here in medford, ma at the legendary Ice Station Zebra (with my main man Ducky Carlisle of course)..and the overdubs were done mostly in LA at John Fields' new Big Brown Sound (located in the midst of a citrus grove!..eeee..fresh squeezed screwdrivers anyone?)..drummer extraordinare michael b. (prince) was friggin' amAzing to work with..in addition to he, john fields, and the fellas in the band, there are a handful of greAt cameos on this thing including andy sturmer (jellyfish), steve gorman (the black crowes), and jason scheff (chicago)...we diD record some new songs that are not represented in the demos you've been hearing on myspace, and some of the songs are quite different than the demos, so, expect a few surprises...we did quite a bit of horns and strings too, so, there's some pretty lush-ish arrangements that i'm reaL happy with...the strings sessions were wAyhay fun...arranged and conducted by an old buddy of mine from college (steve lu)..and we got to work with the famous folks in The Section...there'll be some video of 'em when the new site goes up (reaL neAt)...there's only a tiny smidge of recording left to do and we're completely done...some of the songs have even begun to be mixed...whhheeeeee...but (there's always a butt)..
..regarding a release:
...unfortunately, due to some shakeups at SonyBMG, the future of my record is up-in-the-air once again...i won't get into the sordid details right this second, but, i will say that Aware has been very supportive, and we're both def'nly psyched to move forward as soon as possible...i'll give ya more details as the become available...keep yer fingers crossed for me folks.....hopefully i'll see ya out at a show soon...in the meantime, enjoy the demos..i hope to get some of the new material out there for streaming soon....thanx for believin!...
