hip-hAppy hoLidooZy boOzies!..

...i hope you all had a wonderful chriswanzanukkah...and i sincerely wish you a loverly nude year!
...how 'bout we all make a resolution to quit speaking text-style abbreviations that aren't any shorter to say than the actual words!..like BTW, or LOL......yeah.....that would be totes awes...

...i've had a very memorable '07..filled with some of the best shows, sessions, songs, and well, swell-times of my life...my very humble thanx to everyone who's joined me to share in the various shenanigans...really, i can't wait for '08...and all the shenanigans it's sure to shake...

.....we've got lots planned for next year...

1st off:
****** Ring in the New Year at The Hotel Cafe in LA, Friday January 4th ******

-- TheMajorLabels record (and i dO mean recoRd) is pretty-much finished!...that's the band i started with Mike Viola (Candy Butchers, L.E.O., Dewey Cox band), and Ducky Carlisle (my long-time musicollaborator) for those of you who haven't been overly attentive...we'll be putting out our record (record), playing shows (wickid soon-ish), and generally disseminating balderdash at every opportunity in aught-eight...stay tuned for dates, declarations, and dubious details....

-- the LoudLion record is half-finished (whew)..including the newly-minted masterbeast "LoudLion (Theme Song)"...It features some of the shred-iest digit-dexterity ever dared...with Adam Ross (Darling Alarm, Rhianna) dominating' the ax, Pat (Extreme) badgering the bass, and Macraine (Bang Camaro) commanding the V, you can't escape the acceleration...we're almost done with "In The Lion's Den" and "Lion Eyes" too...so as long as we can keep Robbie out of Juvie, and Rossler & Locke in the same country, the record should be done this yeAr (yAy)...and who knows, we might even play some shows....
www.myspace.com/LoudLion [link]

-- well, gotta get one more minor moral message out before the 31st is over....
..most of us here in the u.s. have more than most of "us" as a 'uman race...and forget about our animal friends...let's just say that most-of-us could stand to give a little bit-of-us to the rest-of-us (at least during the festivus).....seriously though....if you haven't already...give some bux to charity!..

GRAHAM COLTON's record "Here Right Now" comes out today...although i only sang on one song on the record-proper (the single "Best Days"), the iTunes bonus track is one of my favorite pop-songs, a cover of Michael Penn's "No Myth," which i upchucked ridiculous background vocals all over (produced by John Fields, it's abfAb!):

New Bleu EPs Available, Live with Guster Sept. 8th (Aug 15th, 2007)
...hoLy rolley-poley guAcAmoLe...

..it's been too long since i wrote, and there's sOo much news..lemme just get right to it:

1) TWO NEW BLEU EPs now available online...
2) BiG September SHoWS in BOStON and NYC!!
3) new LoudLion song available, a music video, and other exciting news...
4) The Major Labels completed, and lots of other stuff (yes..stuff!)

1) The Blizzard of '05 and Happy Birthday EPs are now available online at iTunes:
The Blizzard of '05 was made a couple years ago before we started recording the still unreleased A Watched Pot...most of it was recorded in the two weeks surrounding that legendary storm, and it was done almost entirely live in the studio..as a result, i think it's one of the most cohesive works i've been a part of...The Blizzard is really a band, with each member's voice coming through clearly...thanks again to Alejandro Neccochea, Maclaine Diemer, Chris Zembower, Dylan Halacy and JP Powell..i chose my seven favorites for the EP...it's quite different from what i'm doing now, but it definitely represents a place and time for me..i hope you enjoy it..
Buy Now on iTunes [link]
New Blizzard MySpace (download artwork for the Blizzard EP!) [link]

Birthday Songs is a collection of songs i've written for people's birthday's over the years (many years)....they were all written, recorded and mixed in 24 hours (or less)...sometimes it shows (hA!), but some of them are really fun....especially if your name is ducky, alex, allan, kate, kenny, or fumiaki!....
Buy Now on iTunes [link]

2) I've got a buncha reaLLy fun shows coming up back east..

Saturday, September 8th - Boston

Guster [link]
Hooray For Earth [link]
(ticket info and show times tbd, listen to FNX next week for details...)

Sunday, September 9th - NYC
at The Living Room, a special duo performance with my new bandmate (and pop auteur) Mike Viola

..mike and i will be performing songs back and forth and joining each other on stuff..i expect there will be some very special guests, but this is really about two songwriters simply playing songs for a couple hours...it's going to be a very unique night...we may even give a preview of some of The Major Labels stuff!..
The Living Room [link]
Mike Viola [link]
9pm, 154 Ludlow Street, NYC

Saturday, September 15th - Boston/Allston
at Great Scott's...this one's with Mike Viola too...and the lovely Dave Munro (who's record i've been producing), will be opening up...

...i'll be doing some full band rock stuff, but i'm really excited to be doing some special acoustic tunes with the Get Up Choir...i've always wanted people to hear these guys in all their glorious Get-Uppedyness..i think it will be awes..totes awes...and as always, please expect special cameos and the such..wheeee...

5. LoudLion "Love Will Break Your Heart"
6. Whitesnake "Slide It In"
7. Slash's Snakepit "Be The Ball"

4) I'm sOo proud to announce that i've finished The Major Labels record
..for those of you with short memories, TML is the band i started with Mike Viola and Ducky Carlisle (now Rock Jetstream)...making this album was easily one of the most rewarding musical experiences i've ever had...and i genuinely can't wait to get it out there and start bringing the music to the people (slash/melting-faces)...this project is really close to my heart...stay tuned.

...my manager suggested that i also list some of my other recent professional accomplishments, so..here goes:
a) i co-wrote and performed on a song on the brand new Jonas Brothers record (as well as doing some other editing, etc. on the rest of the record) which is expected to be a top-5 album this week!...it's called "That's Just The Way We Roll"....and it is..
Jonas Brothers [link]

b) i participated on two songs on the new Hanson record "The Walk"..one of which ("Go") many of you know from my live shows (and myspace, etc.)..i co-wrote and played a bunch on these songs as well as co-produced the other track "Running Man"...
Hanson [link]

c) i also co-wrote a song on the Boys Like Girls record, which is starting to blow-up..."You, Me, and My Medication" is not autobiographical, so don't freak out mom...
Boys Like Girls [link]

d) i'm currently writing with Interscope's - Midnight Hour, Geffen's - Price, and Warner Brothers' Nik and Sam, and Evan T and The Blacklist club...
....wheeeeee....

..i also do some work with this really cool organization...Sound Art [link] brings music to disadvantaged kids all over the city of Los Angeles...it's one of the most rewarding things i've ever done....check 'em out!!

Last but not least...watch this. [link]

Update from Bleu and Hotel Cafe show July 13th (June 20th, 2007)
hey folks....

...this is the first mailer from my new email list-host...i guess we can do more fancyass stuff now, so, let us know what you think...
...it's been a while since i've written, but there's lots goin' on...

1) LA show
2) two new EPs on the way!
3) new LoudLion song up soon
4) TheMajorLabels nears completion

Upcoming Show
07/13/07, Hollywood, CA, The Hotel Cafe, 10pm
[link]

LA SHoW - Friday July 13th (creeEpy)
..seriously tho...it's gonna be scAry goOd...
....ok..i'll stop....
..i am gonna do some new songs though..and old ones that i never do anymore...spesh guests, sing-alongs and the such.....personally..i can't freakin' wait...
...there's a lil' show flyer here. [link]

Two new EPs (on the way)
..since "A Watched Pot" is still in limbo-land, we've decided to put out some old music that i never released..
...i made an entire record a couple years ago before we started recording AWP called "The Blizzard Of '05"...some of those songs eventually got folded into AWP, but what was left was still a full-record's worth of material that i eventually finished...almost the entire record was recorded in the two weeks surrounding that legendary storm (we were actually snowed in unable to leave the studio for a couple days)..and it was all done live in the studio except for the lead vocals (even some of those were done live)..as a result, i think it's one of the most cohesive things i've ever done...The Blizzard Of '05 is really a band..with each members voice coming through clearly...i couldn't have made this record without the talents of all these incredible friends that i had worked with for years (and still do) who stuck with me during some rough times to bring these songs to life..unending thanks to Alejandro Neccochea, Maclaine Diemer, Chris Zembower, Dylan Halacy and JP Powell....i've chosen my seven favorites for the EP...it's moody, atmospheric, and introspective....not necessarily where i'm at now, but it was a great moment in time...i hope you enjoy it as much as i enjoyed making it....
...the other EP is a collection of birthday songs i've recorded for people over the years (going waAay back)....every single one of them was written, recorded, and mixed in 24-hours....they're real freakin' fun....
...so stay tuned for more details!..

New LoudLion Song
...and speaking of new songs, we've finally finished another LoudLion jam "Die Tuff"...for the laaydies....it'll be up soon!...

The Major Labels
....and speaking of (even more) new music (wheee)...i just got back from boston where we recorded several more TheMajorLabels songs...for those of you who don't remember, that's the band i started with the incomparable Mike Viola and Ducky Carlisle...it was an insanely productive session that put us so close to finishing that we've decided to put the thing to bed neXt mOnth....it's hard to describe this record, but, it's definitely unlike anything any of us has done before...our big goals were to act as a true "band" (all members must collaborate on everything and agree on all decisions) and to take risks and do things outside of our comfort zone...it's been a completely unique and rewarding experience....there's definitely lots of McCartney (Wings even), XTC, Nilsson, and the like..and it's very old-sounding...we'll be releasing this one on vinyl (for reaLs!)...hopefully sometime this year...and yes, we'll be playing live to support it...whoopee...

.....well, thanx as always you guys...i very genuinely appreciate your support...

A message from Bleu & a show with Rooney - Monday in LA
(April 17th, 2007)

hello...

..i'm sorry to begin an email on a somber note..but..as some of you know, i grew up in blacksburg, va, and i feel i would be remiss if i didn't say something.....for those of you who've asked, no, i don't know any of the victims, but my heart goes out to all of their friends and families..and all the residents of that beautiful little burg...

....i wanna veRy sincerely thank everyone who came out to all the east coast shows...aaand to everyone who played with me (t.e.v., mike viola, stew b, bill g., dustin!, bang-maclaine, h.f.e., paula kelley - all the way from laLA)...these truly were some of the funest shows i've had in a while....i probably won't be back for a little bit, so, thanx so much for making this visit so memorable...

...i have a really fun show coming-up here in LA in just a few days....playing at the lovely Roxy with my friends Graham Colton and Rooney (both warming-up for soon-to-be-released records)...as you doubtless already know, both are great..and considering all the comraderie, who knows what madness could ensue...

Bleu April tour dates plus L.E.O. & LoudLion updates (March 14th, 2007)
..oh my gOsh...oh my gosh.....oh...my...gosh.....
....stuuff...

1) eAst coAst shOws!
JACKSONVILLE - Tues.Apr.3
PHILLY - Thu.Apr.5
NYC - Fri.Apr.6
BOSTON - Sat.Apr.7
MANCHESTER - Fri.Apr.13 (ooOooOo)

2) LoudLion!!!

3) L.E.O. love from Jeff Lynne! (and other news)

1)
...as you know, i've been a long-time supporter of THE EVERYDAY VISUALS ..i'm extremely lucky to have had these guys back me up for a while now..well, they're finally ready to RELEASE their first proper CD (it's truLy incredible) and i'm coming along to join them for some celebratory shows...the lovely miss PAULA KELLEY (a participant in the L.E.O. project and my new west coast keyboard player) is also flying out for a couple dates (nyc & boston)!..both opening-up with her fabulous chamber-pop aNd backing meee....oh and the incredible MIKE VIOLA has agreed to join us for an L.E.O. song (in boston)!..yup..we'll have THE GET UP CHOIR at The Paradise and the whole nine (and art opening!)....these are gonna be some reaL speSh shows....whehehee.e.eee...

SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS
......but here's the advance purchase link for the boston show:
Advance tickets for April 7th at the Paradise [link]

2)
..LoudLion is finally coming together...conceptually, this is the follow-up to the L.E.O. project in that it is an homage to an uber-producer (arena-rock maestro Mutt Lange this time)..but of course, the music is very different than L.E.O...perhaps you can guess from the name that this is much more Leppard than Shania....it features the talents of LA pals old and new:

Taylor Locke (ROONEY), Allison Robertson (THE DONNAS), John Fields (producer of my records, and Andrew WK, to name a few), Maclaine Diemer (a long-time guitar player with me and BANG CAMARO member now), Adam Ross (another long-time guitar player of mine and mastermind behind THE DARLING ALARM), and of course, the vocal talents of virtual unknown Robby Royce..something tells me you'll be hearing more from him...

....we've got a song in THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2 movie..which hits theaters March 23rd (in case you've missed the commercials playing every 5 minutes)....you can hear that, and our other finished songs here:
www.myspace.com/LoudLion [link]
...we have mp3s for sale!!..
more news..merch..videos..etc....stay tuned!

3)
...quoth Jeff Lynne (mastermind of E.L.O., and the inspiration for L.E.O.):

Q: Did you have a chance to listen to an L.E.O. album, "Alpacas Orgling"?

A: Yes, I heard it. They sent me a copy. I thought it was great. So many people send me so many CDs, so the chance is that I won't be able to listen to all of them. But I listened to that CD. What that means is that I gave it a good score. I understood their respect to me in a great sense, and I was pleased. It is such an honor that they are honoring me through their hard work. If you ever have a chance to interview them, please do send them my wishes

....this is from the popular Japanese music magazine Strange Days..and i'm thinkin that this isn't the best translation necessarily..but..HE LiKES iT!...we couldn't be more psyched...this is some amazing validation of the project...

..in other news...we've been getting quite a bit of airplay on LA's Indie 103 show - Jonesy's Jukebox (w/ Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols)...so..request it...request it anywhere ya like actually...especially on specialty shows (that sounds good to say):
www.indie1031.fm [link]

....and since we're talking L.E.O. news here: i'll mention again that Mike Viola will be performing an L.E.O. song with Paula Kelley and I in Boston (and perhaps NYC)..and yes..we are planning on working in the choir at The Paradise!...aAAaaAaA........there wiLL be mOre L.E.O. news soon..but that's it 'til the next mailer...

...there's actually a bunch of other stuff goin' on, but this email is already stuffed...i'll save some stuff for the next one.....thanx for stickin' with me guys...lookin' forward to seein' ya out there soOon...

..and we've been getting some great radio airplay here and there (don't be afraid to request it)...if you haven't gotten it yet, it's still out there (Amazon.com [link])...ready and waiting to give your CD player a workout...it's appearing in Borders listening-stations now so you can check it out there...and i'm very excited to announce the Japanese release this coming wednesday!!!!...we'll have more information soon on how to get an import copy which will feature bonus tracks (and different artwork)...

...i've already begun work on the L.E.O. follow up...a loving homage to the king of arena-rock: producer Mutt Lange...the name of this next project is Loud Lion...the first couple tracks already feature L.E.O. regulars such as Macliane Diemer (Bang Camaro) and uber-producer John Fields, as well as the talents of long-time bandmate and guitar-hero Adam Ross and the incredibly talented (and Mutt obsessed) Taylor Locke (of Rooney), who also provides lead-screaming..you can expect lOts of wiLd cameos and..well..enormous roCk...more to come...

..and, speaking of good-ol' Adam (The Madam) Ross...i did want to mention that we're hard at work producing the debut record of his band The Darling Alarm...i'm really excited about this..his music is an genuinely fresh mix of pop, both modern and classic...can't wait to lay some of this on yaz..

...okay..well....i cAn't wAit to see you all in this brand spankin-new fresh smellin' freakin' year!!...somethin' tells me a lot's about to change..i can smeLL it...:
