| Q: how difficult is the singing in the Get Up Choir? A: ..anyone from the complete novice to the consummate professional should be able to learn and enjoy the singing parts for the Get Up Choir...really, the only requirement is enthusiasm.. Q: how much rehearsal is required to participate in the Get Up Choir? A: ..1 1/2 - 3 hours.. Q: when do i need to show up on the day of the show? A: ..soundcheck times vary signifigantly from club to club, but we generally ask people to meet 2 to 3 hours before doors open to rehearse.. Q: i work or go to school during the day..can i still participate in the choir? A: ..occasionally we are able to schedule evening rehearsals the day before a show..and obviously we play on the wekends sometimes..so being a student or having a day-job doesn't necesarily prevent you from participating...plus..you can always play hooky right? Q: by signing up for the choir am i commiting to participate? A: ..no..you are only sigining up to receive information about shows in your area.. Q: i've already signed up, do i still need to confirm for a particular show? A: ..yes..in order to ensure your participation and receive the most current information, we kindly request that you confirm your availability for the specific show date and rehearsals by emailing bleuchoir@hotmail.com .. Q: i've heard that there may be more than one rehearsal, am i required to make both? A: ..occasionally we are able to schedule an additional rehearsal the day before the show..if so, you are only required to make one rehearsal.. Q: do i have to buy a ticket to the show in order to participate in the choir? A: ..no.. Q: can i get my family and friends into the show for free? A: ..unfortunately not..but we try to make it easy and inexpensive for your loved ones to purchase tickets in advance... Q: i'm under 18 years old..can i still participate in the choir? A: ..the age restriction is dictated by the club..but we try to arrange for all Get Up Choir shows to admit all ages..check the website for specific information.. Q: if i've already performed in a Get Up Choir show do i still need to come to the rehearsal? A: ..yes..because the material changes slightly from show to show.. Q: i've already signed up for the choir..do my friends who are also planning to participate need to sign up as well? A: ..we want as many people as possible to participate in the choir, but in some cities we have so many participants that we can't guarantee spots for people who haven't confirmed..it also makes the shows difficult to organize..so please try to get your friends to sign up individually if at all possible... Q: what do i wear to the show? A: ..our standard uniform is jeans, sneakers, and an official Get Up Choir t-shirt which you will be given at the show.. Q: do i get to keep my Get Up Choir t-shirt? A: ..unfortunately, we have so many participants that we can't afford to give away the t-shirts at this time.. Q: do i get to hang out with bleu and the band? A: ..there tends to be very little "free time" on the day of a show..but bleu and the band are always around during rehearsals and soundcheck..and you'll definitely get to "hang out" with the band in the best possible place: on stage.. Q: i don't know what my signing voice is..does that matter? A: ..we generally hope to organize an equal number of male and female voices, but the singing parts don't usually require a specific range.. Q: does the choir travel with bleu? A: ..you are welcome to participate in as many shows as you like, but except in rare cases, bleu does not provide transportation for choir members.. Q: how many songs will i be singing? A: ..between 3 and 5..all to be performed at the end of bleu's set.. Q: will i get music ahead of time? A: ..there is an online instructional video (some vhs casettes are also available) that will allow you to practice in advance of the show.. Q: do i get to see bleu perform? A: ..it may be possible, but unfortunately, you will not always be able to see bleu perform...because of the nature of your role as a choir member and because we like to keep the choir as a "surprise" for the end of the show, you may need to wait in the wings until you're called on stage to perform..but it's worth the wait.. Q: who do i contact if i can't make it to the show? A: ..all questions, comments or issues can be directed to bleuchoir@hotmail.com .. Q: i know i signed up, but i'm not receiving any emails? A: ..if you didn't immediately receive a reply, try signing up again..or you may need to adjust the spam filters on your email account..you might have to add bleuchoir@hotmail.com to your address book.. Q: do i get to go backstage? A: ..many clubs may not have a backstage large enough to fit all the choir members..and certain clubs may not allow choir members to have backstage access, so, it all depends on the situation.. Q: is it possible to participate in more than one city? A: ..yes..but you must be signed up in all the cities you wish to receive information for.. Q: how much advance warning will i get before a show? A: ..unfortunately, due to the nature of venue booking and the special considerations of the choir, this varies greatly..but we always try to give you the correct information as soon as we get it.. Q: i've already performed in the choir..do i get priority when signing up? A: ..if the demand to participate in the choir is higher than the number of people we can physically handle, we will arrange an early sign-up for senior members of the choir, but some slots will always remain open for new participants.. |
